Bank Negara Malaysia grants 6 months payment deferment for car loans from April 1 2020 – BUT should you defer your installments?
Based on above actual scenario, the loan originally should be settled after 42 months. (You can get those figures from the bank officer or online banking)
After 6 months, the borrower will have additional cash of RM 9,456 to invest in next 3 years, the return must be at least 2117 / 9456 ≈ 21% in 3 years in order to cover the additional interest.
Follow above calculation, you should be able to know the return that you need to generate within certain time frame. If you are not confident on generating the return, perhaps you should continue with the installments.
However, if you are a professional investor, you need to calculate the projected net return, and is it really worth to spend the time and effort?
Obviously, there’s no point to defer the installments if you just aim to break even it.
